About Procon® pump

Procon pump® is water pump with self-priming rotary vane, and all of NOP® Procon pumps are manufactured/inspected in Japan to keep the best quality.

Allowable range of liquid temperature

Allowable range of fluid temperature for PROCON pump is beween normal to 88℃.

Suction performance

Most of PROCON pump comes with self-priming. Suction performance is max. 600mmHg under the condition to connect 4P motor but check details in the product specs. Allowable rotation speed is between 1,000 and 1,800rpm.

Consisted material for PROCON® pump

PROCON® pump unit has two types, the one is made with forged brass and the second is made with stainless steel. Internal metal is made with stainless or brass. Bene wing, liner, bearing is made with designated carbon which secures stable operation.

Consisted material for mechanical seal

In rotational part of mechanical seal in standard spec model, carbon graphite is used in the surface of sealing, and ceramic is used for seal itself. Fixed part of mechanical seal is made with nitrile rubber. If used fluid is not suitable for nitrile rubber, or used fluid is more than 65℃, some models come with the Viton rubber or ethylene-propylene in the seal.

Allowable ambient temperature of PROCON® pump

Allowable ambient temperature of PROCON® pump (standalone ) is between -20 to 40℃.
Allowable ambient temperature of PROCON® pump with integrated motor is between -10 to 40℃.
If transferred fluid freezes, PROCON® pumps may be damaged so that take some anti-freezing countermeasure like removal of fluid when the opearation of pump stops.

Allowable kinematic viscosity of PROCON® pump

The range of allowable kinematic viscosity for PROCON pump is 1 to 32mm2/sec.

Spec of relief valve

Some of PROCON® pump comes with relief valve that releases over-loaded pressure to protect pump. Depending on the product spec, suitable pressure (Range: 0.4MPa to 1.4MPa) is set in NOP® factory before shipping out.

Recommended suction filter

The capacity of suction filter must be twice as much as the displacement capacity of pump, more than100 mesh filter is highly recommended.

Direction of rotation

Standard spec of direction of rotation is anticlockwise from the view of pump shaft.

About Installation

Pre-caution to set up piping route

  1. Max. torque to tighten the screw to pump is below. The screw-hall of the pump must be craked if tightening with beyond max. torque.
    NPT3/8 →20~25N・m
    NPT1/2 →20~25N・m
    NPT1  →30~35N・m
  2. Make sure that connection of all piping is fixed completely to prevent the connecting point from air coming.
  3. Install the post or supporter between ground and pipe to avoid the situation that the weight of pipe itself loads on the pump unit.
  4. Clean up inside the pipe before connecting pump to pipe.

Unsuitable place to install pump

Do not install pump in the dusty, extra low or high temperature space. Consult customer support if you aim to install pump outdoor.

Measures to protect operator and pump unit

Install the protector in the rotating point to prevent operator's hand or other device from being caught in there.

Caution

Precaution for connecting motor to pump

  1. Eccentricity between drive shaft and motor shaft must be under ±0.05.
  2. Shaft of the pump must be direclty connected to the one of the motor.
  3. Never hit the shaft of the pump when installing coupling.
  4. Gap between the shaft of pump, coupling and drive shaft must be 2 to 3mm.

Inspection before operation begins

Inspection before starting the operation of pump must be done, especially check oil-leaking, sliding noise, temperature of pump unit.

Check point before pump works

  1. Confirm the direction of rotation, inlet/outlet port of fluid.
  2. Confirm fluid is fully filled up to the inlet line, and oil is clean.
  3. Confirm each piping is surely connected and fixed.
  4. Confirm inlet/outlet valves are fully opened.

Pre-caution for trial operation

Never drive pump with no fluid filled for more than 2 minutes. By operating motor under the condition of no fluid flowing, pump unit heats up and it may cause fluid leaking from mechanical seal.

Safety device to protect pump and operator

  1. Leak detection breaker and protection device for over-loading must be installed in motor.
  2. In discharge port, implement galvanometer and pressure sensor to prevent pump unit from the operation with no fluid flowing.
  3. Shaft seal and packing can not work forever, so in case fluid leaks, pump unit must be implemented in secured place.

For safety operation

Do not touch the pump or motor while pump is running or just after the operation of pump stops.

Other question

What is erosion

Erosion is the symptom that pump unit which is made with brass corrodes because of fluid contacting the valve sheet when relief valve is open. This issue makes fluid return to the intake port and the trouble on fluid flow or discharge pressure may happen.
